HIATUS-BREAKIN' UPDATIN' AND VIBRATIN'! OK so there's no vibration I was wholly lying about that bit. But Matt has finally finished his Bloodborne Diaries - this final episode ends up talking quite a bit about the plot implications of The Old Hunter's last boss, so spoilers, obviously. WHAT A GAME. Enjoy!
Part three of Matt's mini-series continues. Doing cool fights, feeling things, temporarily making friends with a meatball - it's like an Italian holiday that gets you put in jail.
The OLD HUNT continues! JELLYBUBS AHOY, CAPTAIN.
It's meaty! It's juicy! The editing process almost sent Matt mad! Gosh, how thematically appropriate! In this 25-minute long detailed special, Matt talks about Bloodborne's narrative design, and how it takes what From Software learnt from Dark Souls and finesses that into a focused beast. Special thanks to Andy Kelly for allowing use of footage from the excellent Other Places, and a final cheers to Eric Merz for letting me use footage from his Dark Souls Let's Play series, which is GERMAN. Guten Tag meine Damen und Herren!
As promised, find links to further video-reading below!
I talk more about this on the next Daft Souls, but I’ve recently come into some hot property: A friend who’s really good at Street Fighter. The stars are aligning! Street Fighter V is out, it’s accessible, and Capcom have clearly built it for long-term enjoyment. My plan for the next month is to have my friend Ian train me up, with the noble goal of joining the top 25% of Street Fighter players on the planet.
Do you want to join me on my adventure, Matt? Ah, your eyes say it all.
“It’s true that once upon a time I was The Best, but now I’m not so sure. This game looks dreadfully fast. Which of these gents is me again? And what does K.O. mean?”
Not to worry, uncle Lees. I’ll bring Cool Ghosts the glory it deserves.
Shush, whippersnapper! Did you know that when I was a boy - during the Megadrive vs SNES wars - it was really difficult to find bananas?
I think this weekend might be the one where I finally spend a chunk of time messing around in Cities: Skylines. I poked around with the basics last night, and there’s a brand new update with snow which perfectly matches the weather in MY SOUL. I'm also trying to get my Bloodborne save file up to scratch for the DLC - I actually did a bit of one-off YouTube streaming today, if anyone wants a watch.
Anyway - important news! Our next live hangout will be taking place on the 25th of February, at 10pm UK time. It’ll be a bit different this time, as we’ll be in a truck. We’ll send a link to Funwraiths on the day via Patreon - so keep an eye out for the invite to join us. And thanks so much to those who’ve been supporting us! It’s possible we’re biased, but we think it's likely that you’re the best.
What are you up to this weekend?
